Finally managed to solve it.
For the rest, open the terminal
$ sudo bash
$ cd /boot/efi/EFI
$ sudo cp -p ubuntu/grubx64.efi Boot
$ sudo touch ubuntu/grubx64.efi.gbr...
I was missing r/w permission in root as its not there when opened in recovery mode. Once i did it i was able to get connected.
There are some Gnome extensions that do exactly that:
