I don't know where to ask this question so I posted it here.

I see that in Ubuntu the sign for Gigabytes, Megabyte etc are used as GiB, MiB etc. So my question is: What is the reason for using i between GB.

1KB = 10^3 = 1000,
1KiB = 2^10 = 1024

1MB = 10^6 = 1000000,
1MiB = 2^20 = 1048576

and so on ;)
