How can I remove all packages from Ubuntu and make sure ubuntu-minimal
will not be lost?
It's fairly easy with aptitude. First, make sure you have it and ubuntu-minimal installed:
sudo apt-get install aptitude ubuntu-minimal
Then, mark all packages as being automatically installed, except ubuntu-minimal
:
sudo aptitude markauto '~i!~nubuntu-minimal'
After that, you should be left with only ubuntu-minimal
, and the things it depends on.
WARNING: This doesn't include a kernel, so I suggest installing linux-image-generic
immediately.
