To install Chef version 11.4.4-2 32bit on Ubuntu 12.04, you need to run the omnibus installer

Before completing the steps described by the omnibus installer, make sure that you install curl:

sudo apt-get install curl

curl -L http://www.opscode.com/chef/install.sh | sudo bash
