I want to install ffmpeg with mp3lame enabled following this tutorial. In step 2 an error was reported on libfaac not found, and in step 5 installing lame throwing this error. Why is this failing, and what should I do?

reach121@youngib:~/lame-3.98.4$ sudo checkinstall --pkgname=lame-ffmpeg --pkgversion="3.98.4" --backup=no --default --deldoc=yes

in a given directory, LIBDIR, you must either use libtool, and
specify the full pathname of the library, or use the `-LLIBDIR'
flag during linking and do at least one of the following:
- add LIBDIR to the `LD_LIBRARY_PATH' environment variable
during execution
- add LIBDIR to the `LD_RUN_PATH' environment variable
during linking
- use the `-Wl,--rpath -Wl,LIBDIR' linker flag
- have your system administrator add LIBDIR to `/etc/ld.so.conf'

more information, such as the ld(1) and ld.so(8) manual pages.

For libfaac, the package libfaac-devInstall libfaac-dev
must be installed. (that applies to most errors related to missing packages during a build). To install it, run:

sudo apt-get install libfaac-dev

libfaac-dev and its dependency libfaac0 are located inside the multiverse repository.

Does the directory /usr/local/share exist? If not, create it:

sudo mkdir -m 755 /usr/local/share
