What happens to the automatic crash reports?

I have already experienced more than a few crashes in Ubuntu 12.04.

What happens to those reports?
What do I get from sending these time after time?
Can I get some statistics somewhere on which applications crash the most?

Would be awesome to get some quality metrics available.
